today my friend drove me to school and she was parking and she rammed into the front of a car.
and i was like holy shit wtf.
and then we like jumped out of the car (when it was parked) and looked at the damage.
the other vehicle had a small yellow dash on it (my friends car is yellow) and her car had a huge black mark and a little dent kinda.
the thing is the other persons car was unattended in the parking lot so he wouldn't have known.
i told her to just move and park somewhere else so that she wouldn't get introuble.
but no she went and called her mom then told the person she hit and now i don't know what is going on.
in this situation i would have just drove away and parked somewhere else to avoid getting into trouble and my insurance going up.
what would you have done?

How many of you who have posted thus far drive on a regular basis? Shit like this happens all the time, no big deal it's just a little bump, that's why they make and call them bumpers, they're meant to be used. In this case I would have advised to just pull out and forget about it, but of course this could have all been avoided by not letting a female park the car.

Many campuses use cameras on their parking lots these days. It would be as simple as the guy asking for someone to look at the recording to see who hit his car.
Not to mention the high chance of witnesses.

If there was no damage to the other car I would have definitely done your way, but considering there was a dash on their car, even though it was small, I probably would have done her way.

There should be a big warning coming with a car for a female driver that says "mirror is not for makeup, nor doing your hair, nor admiring your reflection, etc". That's all that they are going to use it for.

If you're in a school parking lot, chances are SOMEONE saw you. My high school had video cameras in the parking lot, so even if there weren't live witnesses, you could still get in trouble.
Always report damage if you hit someone.

It was Halloween night and my friend was having a sort of get together, and the way his house is and where available parking is...well, everyone was pretty packed in his yard and there are random trees everywhere. So when I was leaving the car infront of me (dunno if it was the guy's mom's car or another guy's) but I was backing up and I turned a tad left to avoid another car and I scrapped the car in front of me. And since it was midnight and the guy's parents were either asleep or drunk...I just peeled off. And I expected a call from him but three months later and I haven't, and I've even been back over there and they haven't seemed to notice or care.

uh, if you inflict damage on the other vehicle, you need to leave a note on it with insurance shit or contact the person if you know them. if someone told me they put a small dent in my car accidentally I'd just tell them to forget it anyway, it's not even worth going through the insurance claims process for something like that.
if there's absolutely no damage done, then there's no reason to drive away.

Obviously the crimes are of a different magnitude. Regardless, they are both examples of hit and run, and display the same fundamental dishonesty of fleeing after causing harm to someone (whether physically or financially) so as to avoid the consequences of one's negligence. The point of making the situation more extreme is to give an example of when a hit and run is so obviously unscrupulous in order to get lacey to realize that "her way," as she calls it in the original post, necessitates similar behavior and thus is also an example of wrongdoing (of a lesser degree, of course)--not to equate the two situations.
The bottom line is that if one is selfish enough to drive away after damaging someone's car, fine--just don't set it up as if the decision was some great fucking ethical dilemma, as this thread does.
