Title: equal time with both parents is weird
Post by: russell on December 04, 2008, 03:28:19 PM
it used to be the first week of each month with my dad/stepmom (which really was only 6 days), but now that he's moved and has a better and more convenient house I changed the schedule to two weeks at each house.

it's weird, definitely more like having two completely separate families (although my mom is more like a deranged guardian than a parent), and now the nuances of my living at my dad's are as regular as those of my mom's. at my dad's, for instance, we utilize the Chip Clip, while such advancements are absent from my mom's pantries; dinner is around 8 here and 6 there; I now have two garage door openers.

if you have divorced parents discuss how the custody situation works out for you

My mom has always had sole custody of me since they divorced, I don't remember seeing my father beyond the one picture of him.

The custody situation is that I stay with my mom and have only seen my dad a few times ever since first leaving CA about 15 years ago.

Once every two weeks I have to go over my dad's. However, my mom makes me go once a week. I hate it. It could be worse, though.

I only see my father if it is a holiday. He doesn't even call unless it he wants me to be with him on a holiday. It pisses me the fuck off. I consider my step-dad my real father.

I go to my mom's Sunday-Thursday and my dad's Thursday-Sunday. It's harder to keep up with stuff when having two houses, I hate it.
