I never thought I would fall in love with a shojo manga, but Fruits Basket looked too adorable not to try. And what do you know, I love it. I'm up to volume 15 (library only has up to 16 so I am going to have to spend money to fuel my obsession... :() and the story is so beautiful. I am constantly worrying about Yuki and his recurring depression regarding Akito, and Kyo trouble with expressing his feelings about Tohru, and oh, Tohru, poor Tohru torn between kind-hearted but shy Yuki and soft but rough around the edges Kyo. What a wonderful girl. Natsuki Takaya does a great job of fleshing her out so that she does not become a two demensional mary sue, and she does a nice job of giving the other characters a mind of their own as well.
I am so glad you posted this.
I finished Melancholy of Haruhi and have been looking for a new anime to watch that has a good story and isn't 100 eps long.
I heard good things about this before, and now that you have reminded me of it, I need to go watch it.
