Title: Politics in history - who would you vote for?
Post by: sans culottes on November 03, 2008, 02:29:19 PM
If you could have voted in every U.S. presidential election, who would you choose by year? Go as far back as you want.

(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election is a helpful reference)

2008: Obama
2004: Kerry
2000: Gore
1996: Clinton
1992: Perot
1988: Dukakis
1984: Reagan
1980: Anderson
1976: Ford
1972: McGovern
1968: Nixon
1964: Goldwater
1960: Kennedy
1952/6: Eisenhower
1948: Truman
1932-44: Roosevelt
1928: Smith
1924: La Follette
1920: Cox
1916: Hughes
1912: Roosevelt
1908: Taft
1904: Roosevelt
And then I'd best educate myself some more before getting to the 1800s.

So, discuss - who would you have voted for if you could?

You would seriously vote for Nixon? Have fun justifying that one.

Hah, I knew I'd get comments on that.

Nixon's not as bad of a president as Watergate made him look. He was also stronger than his opponent in that election. Still, I would only vote for him out of a "I guess I'll pick one..." kinda deal.
