I've always wanted to learn how to play piano. I think it's such an amazing instrument. My parents did make me take piano lessons when I was younger, but all I learned to play was Row Row Row Your Boat. smithicide;
i also wish i didn't quit band so i could play more fancy brass instruments edumacate;

Keyboard and Bass.
Maybe violin. It has such a haunting sound. Anyone know the difference between a violin and a fiddle?

I've heard that "fiddlers" will shave their bridge flat so they can easily play a double-stop. Also I think it depends on where you're at in the world. They probably call it a fiddle more than a violin in places like Ireland and such, because a fiddle sounds more like something folk music would be played on. But other than that, nothing is physically different between the two instruments.

It shows. Not everyone has a passion for something. I am jealous.
I took piano lessons when I was in 3rd grade, I really wasn't that great with it. edumacate;
I'd also like to learn how to play violin or viola. It makes such a fantastic sound. befuddlement
I can! My mother made me take three years of it through Middle School. I hated it then, now I'm glad I learned it. I kinda wish I could play guitar, but everyone seems to play guitar.
I'd love to play Violin.
I have been playing the clarinet for 4 or 5 years now, and I want to learn how to play the saxophone. It would seem like an easy enough transition.
I tought myself the Meow Mix song powerofone;

There is no difference. People use "fiddling" as a kind of slang way to refer to the faster method of playing, but in essence the fiddle is just a violin no matter what you're doing to it.

I wanna learn to play piano D;
I can already play the violin :\
oops, that second video is the wrong one.... but whatever
I can play the piano, but now that I'm not at home where the piano is anymore I'm getting out of practice.
What I'd really like to be able to play is the theremin, because it both looks and sounds awesome.

i don't think i have one friend in real life who isn't somehow currently involved with music
can't think of a single one baddood;
probably because i've met like all of them through music classes, or theatre, but every theatre kid is in choir silly;
i can play the violin
i want to be able to play the guitar or piano.
I just want to be able to play a floor piano, like the one in FAO Schwarz in the movie Big
I can play a little piano, but I'm basically self taught. I take a year of piano in school last year, but they didn't teach me shit. All they did was stick music in front of my face and tell me to learn it. I guess they assumed that we all already knew enough about music that we could just figure it out ourselves. To be fair, we did, but still.

They don't give piano lessons in my school. You either pick band, chorus, or orchestra. befuddlement

I would hardly call them lessons. That was the most boring class I think I've ever had the misfortune to take, no joke. At least I have my fine arts credit out of the way.
Say, does your school have jazz band, or just marching band?

We have a Jazz Band, a Marching/Concert Band, a specialized Symphonic Band (for the kids who were amazing at playing), and a Wind Ensemble (again, for more kids who were amazing).
I was part of the Concert Band and considered moving a step up and becoming a part of the Symphonic Band, but I did something truly stupid and quit before I could. smithicide;
I took piano lessons a few years ago for about a year, but quit because the amount of work I was getting at school. I still have a lot of work, so I don't think I'll try to learn again soon.
I'd like to play the guitar, though. It, like the piano, attracts the ladies. baddood; But more than that, I like that you can do a lot of things with what seems like a simple setup.

Why'd you quit? I'm not into that kind of thing, but being in a good orchestra is pretty rewarding from what I've heard.

No, it doesn't. I should know, I'm a guitar player. Girls don't care if you can play guitar.

Still, I can imagine it being a cool instrument to play specifically for a girlfriend or something, and that's all that really matters for me.

I thought that after three years of band, maybe it was time to give something else a try. So I quit at the end of last year and made room for Psychology.
Then, over the summer, something made me think "I wonder what songs we'll play next year in band. girl;"
And then I remembered that I had quit. smithicide;
I love Psychology and all, definitely an awesome class, BUT AAAA I'D GIVE UP LUNCH TO GET BAND BACK. :'(

ProtectedMember32 seems to enjoy that I play guitar. But yeah, for the most part, girls only care if you play guitar if you're in a band or if you write them a song or something like that.

That's not really a good reason to start playing an instrument if you ask me. There's gotta be more to it than that.
I play piano, keyboard (I have three, actually), xylophone, recorder, I'm learning guitar, and I"m going to start bass soon.
I really want to play the violin though. So beautiful.
PIANO
GUITAR/BASS
DRUMS
TURNTABLES
I wish I played trumpet or something. I've never played anything brass, and the trumpet is such a vocally brilliant instrument. I love the tonality of the cello too.
I get to try sax and guitar this winter, which is cool. Piano's still my favorite, and I get to see a lot of really good pianists at school halls.
the one instrument I really really REALLY want to play is the violin.
It's just so pretty. ;-;
I picked up the guitar a few years ago, but then set it back down. befuddlement
I want to play the piano and violin just because they're pretty.
Det probably knows how to play evurthing. <3

We just have... Band.
Because our band teacher really sucks enough that 90% of kids quit after their freshman year. There are currently 12 band members, including freshman.
Meanwhile, we have about 150 choir kids, with 4 different choir classes.
