Title: Relationships and religion
Post by: The artist formally known on October 25, 2008, 03:31:31 AM
If you liked a girl, but she was a different religion, what would you think?

Interesting. That's sort of the issue I'm already having. I'm not really affiliated with any religion, but Chelsea is Christian. It's caused a lot of debates and struggles, especially with her father disapproving of my lack of Christian faith, but...I still love her despite everything.

I'm Roman Catholic and Lauren is Christian. I actually prefer her religion a lot more, but I'm currently RC because I was born into it. It's no big deal at all.

...do you even know what you just said? psyduck;

are you saying she's non-denominational or what, because Roman Catholics are Christians too.

Very slight differences between the two.

I'm polytheistic while she's monotheistic.

I'll be back later. I have to sacrifice someone to the sun god.

Roman Catholicism is a branch of Christianity. All branches differ slightly, but we're all still Christian.

I have a lot of trouble with that. I don't think I can really date somebody who is Christian. I do not think I would have as much of an issue with any other religions as I do Christianity (though it wouldn't be something I liked)
I actually really dislike Christianity and it sort of puts a damper on any sort of relationship I might have with a Christian.

I don't think I could ever date a Christian but I am dating somebody who goes a Catholic "College Preparatory" and she's very spiritual.

It's a part of my religion that I may marry a woman of another Abrahamic religion. That's pretty convenient for me, considering 3.8 billion of us are part of an Abrahamic religion.

However, if I do like someone that is a polytheist or something... well, I'd see if it could work, and if it does--why not?

Anyway, I actually tend to sometimes... feel less of people who are highly religious? I know that sounds awful... but I'm trying to be honest. If anybody attempts in anyway to convert me to their religion, my respect for them just automatically drops a bit, depending on how devout they are.

I just don't think I would want to spend my life with someone who wants to devote a large chuink of their energy to something I peronally don't believe it.

But I'm not saying I like.. wouldn't date someone if they weren't Christian, I have in the past in fact. It's just a matter of how big a role it plays in their life.

My lover and I both hate organized religion with a passion, so it's all good.

Neither me or my current gf like religion very much, so blah?

If a religion doesn't restrict you from dating someone, then its all good, but don't try forcing it on me.

I'm Catholic, and I don't care what their religion is. As long as they accept me for mine as well, it wouldn't be a problem

It's not happening to me but a girl that likes me was telling me what she looks for in a guy, she stressed that he must be devoted to god. I showed the text to my friends and they all said I should ask "which god?"

My brother's girlfriend used to be a bible beater but now she is atheist. Oh how weak people's minds are.

There's only one "God", so that's a pretty silly question. If she had said "devoted to a god" instead, that question would make sense

But not like a cool jackass standing up for your freedom of religion, like a stupid jackass who is unneccessarily trying to convey his religious beliefs for a sense of superiority.

I could roll with it. I'm not a fan of any religion; I think they all have some degree of truth to them, but it's watered down with truckloads of bullshit. Still, I'm too young for long-term relationships to be an issue, so I really doubt that there would be a problem.

But in case you're wondering, ladies: If you won't date me because your parents want me to be Jewish, then you can take your business and put it where the sun don't shine.

There was this girl in 9th grade. Immensely Christian. We had to do a project together, and ever since, we became "friends." She'd always talk about God and stuff. She moved and I was thankful.

There's this other guy who's Christian, but no so blatant about it.  He's actually a pretty cool guy.

So far they're still together. Depends on the people, if you ask me. Some people can do it and some can't.
