I realize that change is inevitable, but that knowledge doesn't make it feel any better. We've lost so many familiar users over the progression of Powerspike and Boyah that it feels like we've got too many strangers here. No, I'm not just talking about Lawlz.
And what's more, it feels like there's so little to do around here these days. Activity is dominated so strongly by the chat thread that there's very rarely any decent threads to post in (at least not in The Lobby). The Wiki is totally dead, so there's no enjoyment out of updating that anymore. There is no longer any enjoyment out of the silly little antics of administrators...things like the old flash party and the night-long struggle to find the perfect song to embed onto Boyah. Simply put, nothing fun ever happens here anymore.
Hell, there's hardly even any reason to moderate anymore. It's become pretty clear that if I just quit, others pick up the slack pretty quickly. No, I'm not just dropping my mod position, but it may be something I do if I get bored enough to mostly leave this place.
So, for those of you who have been here long enough to know about the fun, close-knit Boyah family we used to have, do you feel the way I do? What do you hate about the current Boyah, and what should we do to improve it? Or am I just spewing nonsense?
Kaz is wise beyond his years. I wasn't here during the Golden Age of Boyah, but I do remember the mods doing silly, fun things a lot, and I miss that.
I miss all the fun stuff too. There is normally at least 1 member I'll see each day and have no clue who the fuck they are. I miss being part of the raids at Nsider and GCF's forum. Those were hilarious. Everyone here, myself included, has just grown up more.
It's why I wanted to move the chat threads to being created in the chat thread archive so they don't count as posts or luts.

Removing the ability of the chat threads to generate posts and luts wouldn't really change the fact that people would still post in them more than anything else. People don't care about their post counts and especially not their luts that much.

The "big picture" thing was never fun. You were never here for any of the decent embeds. Censoring words with funny emotes was dead by the time you got here. Deleting all the boards was never part of what I was talking about. Threads with too many flash embeds were deleted, and were most certainly not fun.
You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about and you only addressed one very small part of the overall issue here at Boyah.

Heh, I don't know. I've started to come here more often only recently so I don't really have any points of comparison to base an opinion on. One thing I can say though is that while this place may have been even more close-knit than it is right now, for a newcomer like me it does still have a pretty familiar atmosphere, at least enough to be noticeably enjoyable.

I remember this forum from day one. Way back in the Banned Camp days, and it has indeed changed very much. In general, the user base has changed, and the veteran users have pretty much matured; changing this place quite a bit.
One thing that kept me going on this place, truly, was Nsider. Not only was it a place to go while I was banned, but it was also the idea that I was part of something that the other Nsiders weren't. I loved flaunting the forum to others without them knowing what it was, and things to that extent.
Another thing I loved about this forum was that it was like one close-knit group. We all knew each other, and mostly, we all got along. Most of the time.
I'm not really sure, it just kind of seems like we've nearly run out of things to talk about. Most of the activity is in the chat thread, and a thread worthy of good discussion is almost unheard of these days.
Only thing remotely close to old school Boyah is musica.cards.
I miss all the good times we had, Boyah. It appears as if we all grew up or something. >.<

Most times I don't post because someone will disagree or bitch. Then I feel bad because I feel stupid. Where as before I wouldn't. BECAUSE WE ALL WERE FRIENDS AND NOT SO CRITICAL. Who wants to post just to get torn apart.

Yes, as long as it's not something as annoying as changed the forum to all caps and doubling up every letter, the silliness wasn't that bad in my opinion.

That's exactly the reason why I am barely at Outsider now. (Even though I was among one of its first 20 members)
Activity there is so slow that it's barely worth going there everyday just to find out that a certain thread hasn't been replied to in like two days. In fact, I was just there recently for the first time in like six months. In all honesty, I liked Boyah/Outsider better when it had very few members and always poked fun at NSider. But I still come here from time to time whenever I'm bored or have to take a break from my homework.

Honestly there was always bickering.
The drop in activity was really probably due to NSider dying and no silly complaints after another ban for stupid shit or hilariously stupid posts. It was also our main source of members. We either got some new idiot that provided entertainment before leaving or some good new members.
Even after NSider died we still managed to keep afloat with NSF and Nshit2 but eventually we stopped giving a fuck about those.
I would say we've had an improvement, attitude and activity wise.
we're a lot more close-knit too...we lost some of the old family, but people who were new then (especially Nyerp) are now part of the gang
You're exactly right. After awhile, bickering and arguing just made it seem like we're a family. As cheesy as it sounds, a lot of friendships have been made and old ones have become stronger. n_u
