Title: My job - haunted corn maze
Post by: The artist formally known on October 19, 2008, 02:04:38 PM
Two grown adult women pissed their pants because they were so scared. One lady called me a "fucking bastard" because I scared her so hard. Some of the employees are being punched and kicked at, haha.

It's pretty fun. Anyone else work at a haunted house or whatever?

Yes, they did.

I love my job because I can threaten the costumers by telling them I'm going to choke them to death with some dead body's intestines.

My Friend works at this big Halloween store... that's kinda the same. He says it's easy cause all you do is stand there.

man that would be the sickest job to have.

i like haunted houses better than like corn mazes.

but still it would be intense to work at either.

I think they both can be scary in their own way but working in a house would be cooler. People can just jump through corn to scare you but that can't happen inside of a haunted house.

I guess kinda. It looks really good on applications and makes for easy essay examples.

yeah. okay.

Next time you spend 300 hours working on a musical just for one sunday night appearance and your name in big letters in the playbill, you can come and be offended to me.

I used to help out on a Ghost walk on the campus of one of my local colleges
It's pretty crazy because the place is actually haunted.

what are you talking about psyduck;
stage managers only start working during dress rehearsals here to make sure everyone is doing their job backstage, i'd say the actors have it way harder than any stage manager.
also my name is always in big letters in the playbill. ;)

well.. clearly your stage managers on't do the level of work I do.

I attend every rehearsal. So whether it's just leads orjust minor characters, I'm there. That's at least 3 hours everyday after school and almsot all of my saturdays (usually 10-12 hours). I keep the cast in line, run errands for the directors, run lines with leads, block the stage, everything. I'm in charge of getting ALL of the student volunteers and setting up the crews. That includes going over a good 100 applications to see who goes into what, then calling each kid and telling them whether they're doing makeup, lobby decoration, backstage, props, etc. THEN. I need to set up each crew with their parent head, or in my case I'm the head of backstage crew. Every set piece is under my control and it's my job to make sure evrything and everyone gets out on stage on time.

That's a basic overview of my position.

I should honestly be paid.

what the fuck we have a lot of people doing little jobs that make up all that shit
and sounds to me you're more student director than stage manager
stage manager just... well... manages the stage. not the actors and the costumes and auditions and shit.
also why the fuck do you block, what is your director there for?

It's more that I give major tips for the blocking and write it all down.

And then she forgets the next day and I need to retell everyone what we did the day before.

And I basically do the work that a stage manager does in actual broadway productions. And they get paid as much as the directors, sometiems more. The two directors for the play at my school get 10K a year. I get diddly squat. wry

And I forgot to mention that I'm in charge of putting the playbill together and making sure each actor gets $130 worth of advertisements.

Nothing cool has happened on the job yet.

We did go to Jack in the Box after and ordered like we were at Taco Bell and the person at the drive through was like "sir, this isn't Taco Bell" and we responded "yeah, I know this is Taco Bell"

and then she said it a couple more times and then we responded "oh, sorry. I'm fucking drunk." and left
