Seriously, they seem awesome.
What do you think?
they look delicate
I dunno, they look kinda unwieldy.

QuoteIf all that isn't enough to convince you to snatch up a pair, consider that Koss offers a "no questions asked" lifetime warranty on the PortaPros. If anything happens to them during normal use, Koss will send you a new pair for the cost of shipping ($6.00). Now, that's music to our ears
so if they break while you're wearing them you get a new pair?
I would still want something more sturdy

Yeah, I don't see what's wrong with plain old normal headphones. These new gimmicky things are all style and no functionality.

yeah.
They didn't say there were any durability problems, they look sturdy enough to handle everyday situations.

Agreed.
I listen to music when I'm riding my bike and that pair just doesn't look like they could stand up to it.
I suppose if you're just going to sit on your couch and listen to music and then put the headphones on your dresser drawer or something they would be fine. Other than that they really just look too breakable.

Well first off, they're from 1984. Second, they allegedly have excellent sound quality and comfort, not to mention the 80's style that many people may hate.
So none of what you just said made any sense.

"Allegedly" is the operative word here. How much sound quality do you think you'll get for $35.99 - $48.86?

What's gimmicky about them baddood;
I think I could get somewhat decent quality for 40 bucks.
QuoteThe good:
The Koss PortaPro Headphones combine a functional design with excellent 3D sound and a low price tag.
The bad:
Hair gets caught in the collapsible band; some people will dislike the '80s aesthetic.
The bottom line:
Koss hit a home run with the PortaPros. Love or hate the design, there's no denying the sound quality here: they're the ideal companion for mobile audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts.

They're trying to hook buyers through their assumption that more complicated-looking headphones are somehow more ergonomic, which in a lot of cases is false. You can get them if you want, but I'm trying to warn you that reviews tend to be BS and in terms of sound quality you generally get what you pay for.

Why are earbuds better than headphones? Their sound quality is generally inferior, many find them uncomfortable and inconvenient, and they're worse for your ears.

Actually you just said that people who wear headphones make you "lul". You didn't say specifically
why they make you "lul". Yeah, headphones do look kinda silly but to me earbuds look silly in their own way. I just seems weird to me that people willingly shove electronic devices into their ears.

Quote from: Hiro. on October 05, 2008, 04:59:15 PM
They're inconvenient because they tend to fall out of some people's ears, including mine. I can't enjoy music when I know that at any minute the earbud I'm listening to might spontaneously fall out of my ear. And they are in fact worse for your ears, since the speaker is closer to your eardrum than with headphones.

I actually think they're more convenient because you can fit them in your pocket, but I have in-ear earbuds that go inside your ear a little deeper so they don't fall out.
But yeah, not too great for your hearing.

you just have deformed ears, mine stay in fine ;)
besides, don't you play in a band? yeah, you totally give a shit about your ears :0

I just inferred meaning based on tone. It was just a failure in communication on my part, nothing more.

Everyone's ears are different. For most people they stay in fine, but there are a lot of people out there with the same problem as me. I purchase based on my own needs.

Actually, I do give a shit about my ears. I always wear ear protection when I practice alone or with a band.

Be sure to eat your Flintstone vitamins too.
Seriously, those things are good.

Actually I stopped taking vitamins because I did the math and it turned out that I get enough vitamins every day without the supplements. There's no reason to take excess vitamins because you just piss out any vitamins that your body doesn't need.
they look a bit retarded
I, as well, mostly despise headphones and use those $40 Apple earbuds (the squishy ones) that may or may not be sold anymore. they're pretty much the best earbuds I've ever tried and I don't even think they'd be worse than those ugly $300 Shure shits.
I don't mind headphones, but I generally wear earbuds when I'm out in public walking around because I think that you tend to look a bit silly with headphones. Not trying to sound totally self-conscious, but I at least try to maintain some sense of style.
But yeah, when I'm alone in my dark room, isolated from human interaction, I use headphones all the time.
I don't like the headphones with the thing that fits on top of your head.
I like the ones that wrap around your ears.
