I was asked to show I.D. upon requesting to purchase a lighter today. This caused surprise and resentment both for me this random MILF behind me in line.

My friend ID'd me once just to piss me off.

Okay, this sure does offer a lot of discussion.
Erosion of civil liberties and unnecessary intrusion into personal privacy?

Spoiler: McCain is just going to further that and the rest of Bush's policies.
Enjoy your police state.

No one want's a "police state" and trying to link this particular case to McCain is a little pathetic.

How is asking for ID in order to purchase a lighter even remotely that?
I guess lighters not being available for underage is a little ridiculous, but I wouldn't go that far
how exactly is that big brother

Well besides being inconvenient it's unnecessary, why must you know who I am for a lighter purchase?

they're checking how old you are, not who you are doodthing;

Semantics, an I.D. displays more then just age. In any case I still oppose some half assed age limit for a lighter.
I thought that this thread was about your big brother and he was on crack doodthing;
But yeah, asking for ID for something like a lighter is a little too far. You could always get matches

I, along with Lauren, were requested I.D. to see Kung Fu Panda. They check I.D. after 7 on Friday/Saturday, but still, what the fuck? KUNG FU PANDA

lol me and my friends were ID'd for Tropic Thunder, and my loser friend who is almost
18 and doesn't have his permit yet, therefore no ID, couldn't get it. So we bought tickets to a different movie and tried to sneak in and got caught.
It was ironic because we were all 17, and got caught trying to sneak into an R rated movie...
Why do you guys get ID'd so much?
I got ID'd buying cigarettes for my dad.
I got ID'd when buying my iPhone (not sure if it was to activate or pay with credit card)
I got ID'd when going into a club (I don't know why they let me in. You need to be 19 to get in lol)
I believe that's all, never when going to a movie or buying a lighter or anything like that.
Never got ID'd in New York City.

They made me show ID to return an M rated game.
And Gamestop stopped taking Student ID's, yet banks are required to take them. Hmmm.
And like snorkel said, spray paint. I can't buy it at lowes or home depot, but i can at Jo-Ann Fabrics and probably at Michael's.
i remember once a few years ago the "check ID" light came on at walmart after some elmer's glue was scanned. The cashier was like "Oh, i didn't know it was possible to smoke glue now too." and just sold it to me.

lolwut is that?
I peeled grapeskins from black grapes and put them in a pipe. Yet to smoke them. Too much of a pussy/don't have an opportunity to not get caught/need a lighter.
Socks you are freaking out over nothing...
Yeah I remember a few years ago I was at the beach and my friend bought a couple lighters and they made him show his I.D.

Me and my friend thought Tropic Thunder was rated PG 13. We bought our tickets without getting ID'd or anything. We're only fifteen.
We didn't realize it was rated R until after we got out of the movie.
