Title: where do you hide your confidential information
Post by: Feynman on July 17, 2008, 08:35:24 PM
I have my "info" in ~/Documents/School/cardozo/.

And it's password protected (http://mac-free.com/download/LameSecure.html).

I don't have any, and I do not think anyone would care.

You are just overly protective.  doodthing;

I never understood why people saved chat logs. Seems like a waste of space.

If you mean porn, I have none.

For actual sensitive info. I have it in Wallet.app (http://www.waterfallsw.com/wallet/), which passwords stuff before accessing it. I also use Bitclamp (http://www.fastforwardsw.com/products/bitclamp/) for files with sensitive info(like the PDF with my godaddy info, financial forms, etc)

Otherwise, I just keep it in my head.

My only "confidential information" is that crazy shit about masturbating with chili and such only you guys know.

Nothing that can be used against me in any way is saved on my computer because no such "information" exists. I suppose I wouldn't just tell my friends and family that I worship a 14 year old girl on the internet, but if they stumble upon any of my chat logs, I wouldn't care.

There are some saved passwords in keychain, but who gives a shit? The most they could do is post on Boyah.

Adium has them on by default and I see no reason to turn them off. Sometimes I have people asking me to go back and check a log for a certain bit of info so they actually prove useful.

None on my computer, anything physical which I cannot store mentally I have a place for it. I just need my mind, a key and a shovel to go get it.

I use TrueCrypt (http://www.truecrypt.org/) to hide my stuff.  It's really simple and pretty effective.

Only thing on the internet I wouldn't want anyone getting is my chat logs. But no one would care enough to look at those. And there might be a few raunchy pictures I wouldn't want my parents to see, but the odds of them stumbling upon them is like 1/23542465245 (considering how many pictures I have on my computer).

Everything else I keep in my head.

There are a couple texts that a friend read that I wish he wouldn't have, though.  doodthing;

No where.
Except if you count passwords I save them in some text document because I'm forgetful.

also why would some 14 year old have secret informationz

Uhh, the only thing that comes to mind are my writing ideas and stuff, which is all in an unprotected folder in my documents, and physical printed copies are in my nightstand drawer because I am paranoid about keeping the only copies of stuff on a computer because they can break at any moment and then it's gone forever.
