Title: my mom doesn't believe in Online Shopping
Post by: Bushy on July 08, 2008, 08:44:37 PM
I asked her if I could sell some old toys of mine on like eBay or whatever, and she's all "you're gonna get scammed, they're gonna steal you account number, you should keep all your shit"

Anyone else have overly superstitious parents?

Not me. As long as you use common sense you'll be fine.

That's not really superstition, just a lack of knowledge and experience with such mediums of commerce.

It might as well be a superstition, no matter how I try to educate her, she just brushes it off.

My parents are Christians.
Christian to the degree of rejecting science, or just Christians?

My parents don't trust eBay at all, they'll only buy something if it's from a large, trusted company. powerofone;

My dad doesn't trust paying things over the internet. My mom has bought shoes and other stuff over the internet but she's pretty cautious.

My mom thinks that if you buy anything on the internet, your credit card number and identity will be stolen. I can't even get an iTunes account

My mom is superstitious about everything, not just her own religion, but she'll let me order if it's important enough or it's something for her. My dad just says to be careful and tell him what I want. I rarely ask for stuff at the store though, because most of the time I'll just buy it and they'll just go "watevar" or go insane thinking I'm insane. I don't order online often though, but I can't wait until I get a credit card. Or I could be smart and get one of those visa gift cards but I'll have to somehow receive the item without them knowing.
