Title: question of the week: Do celebrity endorsements make you want a product, etc.
Post by: ncba93ivyase on June 28, 2008, 06:11:47 AM
no

But when it comes to my parents, if my father knows any wrestling star is in a movie, he'll watch it. We all know wrestling is complete slop, and we all know they're the worst actors in the world, but my father completely worships them. Jackasses like the rock have been in dozens of movies, not a damned one of which is good, yet my father will pay to see every single one and say it's "fucking outstanding" just because it has some steroid slurping twat.

My mother also worships every woman on Food Network. If she sees Rachel Ray or Paula Dean on a 2 ounce pack of chicken, she'll gladly turn over $100 for it. She watches all of their goddamn shows and nothing else. It's truly sad seeing a woman that's never had any ambitions and only idolizes old and ugly bitches on Food Network. Damn, I hate that ugly whore Rachel Ray. Her mouth is huge, she tries to make everything supah kawaii lol =^.^=, she's ugly, she's a goddamn nitwit, and she's spawned a legion of middle aged housewife followers. I really hope the dumb cunt chokes on a dozen dicks and dies. Alton Brown, however, is a GOD. Really, cooking shows are utter slop, but at least men can pull them off decently. see alton brown, anthony bourdain, etc

Still, I don't buy into anything just because it has some famous bastard on it. I hate advertisements in general, so even if Shigesato Itoi himself endorsed some new brand of scrotum soap, I wouldn't lose the stuff I currently use unless this new brand was incredibly cheap and was just as good if not better than what I use, and that's the product itself pulling me in and not the advertising.

sticky this shit

Never. I buy what I want because I want it, not because some famous person's face is on it.

Not at all. I don't give a shit about any endorsements, even if it's someone I idolize like some amazing guitarist or something.

I also hate Rachel Ray and love Alton Brown.  baddood;

The different competitions on Food Network are also great entertainment, along with shows like unwrapped.

As for celebrity endorsements, the only time they would really get to me is if there was a celebrity I cared about on it. So basically you'd have to slap someone like Miyamoto or some video game character on the package, and I'd probably go for it.  doodthing;

My parents don't go for that stuff.

Most of the celebrity endorsement stuff is fake.  I mean I don't like Nike that much, but if you pay me over $25 I'd endorse it. baddood;

What else would you do if I pay you over 25$?
