Title: I saw a woman with elephantitis today
Post by: Selkie on May 17, 2008, 06:04:58 PM
I was driving and she crossed at the crosswalk in front of me. Her legs were the size of beach balls.

I have to say, I have never truly realized how much sadness there is in the World until I saw that. It just gave me this incredibly strong feeling of despair and realization oh how much suffering there is in the world. I don't even know why, I doubt it was the most horrible thing I have ever seen...

It really depressed me. Post times when you got really depressed by something

Wow, I never knew that there were mentally retarded homeless people. You'd think the state would step up? That seems really strange.

Um what?

If you're so fat that you're legs are the size of beach balls, there's no way in hell that the rest of your body is going to look normal, elephantiasis is the thickening of the skin and tissues in your genitals and legs.  doodthing;

I agree but then at times I can think of all the beauty is in the world.

Everyone has some sort of problem, some are huge and some are not.  befuddlement

To tell you the truth, those things don't really bother me.

Maybe I'd feel bad for the person for 10 mintes, tops, b ut I know I'll forget about it.

And as for those commercials, I really don't care. If you pay attention, and listen to what they're saying, only 85 cents of every dollar you donate goes to the little starving children anyway.

No, I think what really makes me upset is the stupidity of people in the world. Everytime I hear people saying things so hateful or ignorant, my hope for humanity goes down a notch.

Overpopulation scares me as well.

Seeing someone with a disease or condition like that doesn't really bother me. I'd feel bad for them, but it's not going to make me depressed at all

Are you kidding? If there are too many people there isn't enough water for people, not enough resources in general.  People will starve, wars will break out over necessities, it will be a living hell.

My deal with overpopulation is that I feel as though natural selection needs to take place. Overpopulation could basically mean the end of life on the world, considering how humans just dominate over the food chain.

But it's not even that I'm afraid of dying, I really don't care if I live or die. I fear more of how that will happen and pompous dumbasses will takeover the world while the rest of us die.

I get depressed when I think about how poor Africa is compared to the rest of the world.

And then realise that Africa is where Humanity originally came from. Which makes me even more sad.
