well actually it could make sense, they wanted to commit suicide, so they jumped off a ledge, not knowing a train track was under it, the train comes.

 I seen a true story on tv. A guy got smashed between a train and something. He was only kept alive because of the compression of the train. As soon as they moved the train he would die. They actually brought his wife to him so he could say goodbye. How horrible.  :(
