Title: Great rock bands that use violins?

I don't know of many, Winds, ELO which I don't listen to enough, Jethro Tull I think, and the many many metal bands I can't think of right now.

Well they're not really "great," but Kansas used them quite a bit.

Uhm, I really don't know any that use the violin regularly.

Sugarcane Harris dropped some sick fiddle on "Willie the Pimp" by Frank Zappa, also featuring the vocal talents of Captain Beefheart.

Like, with an actual violin player in the band or a band that uses studio musicians or mellotrons?

If the former, then Arcade Fire. If the latter, plenty of bands.

Either is fine but the first is way way better
