Title: GODDAMMIT
Post by: Snorkel on March 18, 2008, 01:47:49 PM
Today, my school was very close to having an Electricity Day. For an unknown reason, the power went out just before first period was about to start, so everyone was like "lol, power"

Then after about twenty minutes it became apparent that the power wasn't coming back soon, so they told us to go to our first hour classes and just stay there, for the sake of not having crazy kids running all over the place.

By the state/school rules we should have been released after an hour with no power, but because of complications with the bus system (my school leeches from the surrounding public schools) and Junior High kids not being able to conveniently get home (can't drive), they prolonged our stay at school... finally, after an hour and twenty minutes, they said if the power didn't come back within 10 minutes, we'd get to go home.

So, yeah, you can guess the end of the story.

The power came back on about two minutes after they told everyone that, and it was the most disappointing thing ever. But I got out of a presentation I supposed to do first hour.  befuddlement

No one died, 5 people were rushed to the hospital in ambulances, and a few were slightly injured. The bus is gone though.

Same thing happened to us last year, the power went out at about 07:05 and they said if the power wasn't on by 08:00 we'd go home, 07:58 the power decides to come back on.  doodthing;

In 2nd grade a kid brought his ferret for show and tell. The power went out, and someone must have opened up the cage. Because when the lights came back, it was open.  He never saw it again.

They were working on the Transformer near the school so we had to stay in the front office because it was before school started, and they had to work on it again at 1:00pm so we sat in class doing nothing.
