My MacBook Pro's power thing committed suicide after two years of faithful (and apparently unhappy) service, so I brought it to the Apple store to see if they'd give me a new one. I have no warranty, but they gave me a free new battery awhile ago, so I figured they might.
They didn't, and I had to buy a new one for $80, which is fucking ridiculous. $80 for an AC adapter? I don't care if it's magnetic; I could be getting 1,600 nickel blowjobs for that much. Or a shitload of milkshakes. Or 80 items from the McDonald's dollar menu. Or about a third of a thing of Warhammer paint.
I know, it's fucking ridiculous what companies try to charge for their power adapters.
Like if I remember correctly, Dell wanted to charge my grandmother $100 for a replacement power adapter. goonish
It's not just Apple. That seems to be the price for any AC Adapter for a notebook.
I was refunded $200 more than was paid for my G5 when it died.

That's really nice of Apple.

You mean USAA.
Oh, so do they take in any type of old computers?

They didn't take the computer.
