Title: Boyagean language (hey guys you can suggest words you know)
Post by: [hedy]Zidone on February 24, 2008, 01:03:40 PM
We're currently using the Roman alphabet, with a few modifications (schwa, i-bar, ash, c-cedilla), in addition to some exotic click consonants and modified sounds. As soon as this Cyrillic/Greek situation is fixed, we may bring some of those letters in to substitute for some more dubious combinations. Thorn and eth can currently be used for th and dh, though. Currently working on the word list. We'll probably start work on grammar as soon as we have enough words.

Uh, as soon as I have enough words. I'm the only one working on this, dammit. baddood;

Oh, and the name is tentative. Feel free to suggest alternatives.

Rules for suggesting words:
1. Must follow pronunciation of letters
2. Must include English word, part of speech and definition

If Boyah were a country, what would its name, language, location and 3-letter currency abbreviation (currency is definitely luts) be?

I nominate (in order): Valentrinne-Boyah, Boyagean, just south of Africa, and VBL (Valentrinne-Boyagean Lut).

Excuse me? doodthing;

But the name's tentative anyways.

I would think something that resembles an actual language would be better. doodthing;

But I was planning on using some of those marks (such as ') for signifying sounds without proper letters (such as those click consonants I've always wanted).

Languages are just random symbols unless you can read it.  doodthing;

Like take this for example:

Pelikonsolista julkaistiin Euroopassa aluksi vain kalliimpi 599 euron hintainen 60 gigatavun kiintolevyllä varustettu malli, jossa on edullisempaan 20 gigatavun malliin verrattuna lisäksi mm.

I'm trying to say that I hate leetspeak, and that it would be better for the language to at least resemble natural a language(s).

Also, is that Finnish?

More new letters to replace combinations-
Ñ (ñ) to replace "ny"
? (?) to replace "zh"
?? can be used to replace zhy.
Of course, the zh and zhy replacements (Cyrillic letter zhe) can't be used on the forum until this character display shit is cleared up. :(
