Title: Today, we had a moment of silence for a kid that killed himself
Post by: ncba93ivyase on February 21, 2008, 01:19:00 PM
And tried to kill his girlfriend too. He shot his girlfriend then he shot himself in a closet.

Should we really be forced to honor someone like this?

A few years ago some guy shot some one, then tried to shoot himself but missed.

No one's forcing you to honor him, the moment of silence is more for the people who feel grief by the person's death than the person themself... I don't see why many people would miss him though, because he sounds retarded

An Asian dude like what happened around the same time last year except some people liked him but most don't know him.

But really, he attempted to murder her and we have to feel sorry for him?

Yes. When we have our "moment of silence" every year on 9/11, we have to stand up and pretend to care.

I do like what I do during the pledge--stand up with my arms folded with an impatient look.

For 9/11: I have to stand for quite a bit of time
After the pledge every day: We have to stand for about 10 seconds
When told that somebody died: We just stay seated and stop working for like 15-20 seconds

I don't think somebody that attempted to kill another deserves a moment of silence from their death, unless they had a justified reason for doing so.

Government? Have you actually played attention to the words of the pledge? Republic, one nation, indivisible, liberty, justice (for all). I don't see government in there, my national pride and patriotism for the US goes beyond any administration and or party. Yes, they do teach history here in Philadelphia.

You need to learn how to read.

No, you don't, so shut the hell up.

I pledge my allegiance to upholding, respecting and defending those ideals and what they stand for, us, from anyone, be they foreign or domestic threats. What is with this fixation on government?
