Ok so V and I are pretty much done school and our boy Isaac is giving us a ride home. Then Vââ,¬â,,˘s like, "Yo Socks when we going shooting"? And I say "soon" (me and V had been planning to go to a gun range one of these days), then I ask Isaac if he wants to go. He's like "yeah, lets go right now". I knew this one place; so we drive for like an hour. Go to the place and the guy's like "you got to be 21 to shoot handguns but 18 for rifles and shotguns". I'm like 'WTF'? So I ask and he has no rifles or shotguns, he tells us a place down the road might not care about ID. So we drive around for another hour looking for this place, call up several people and finally find a nice shooting range. We go in and the dude's like, "you got to be 21". He's like "you can buy a rifle, gun or shotgun when your 18 in PA but cant use one, even at a range, until 21", makes no sense, but whatever. He did say we can come with someone 21 or older and they would let us shoot.
So me and V are going to find someone and go again, or get real/fake 21 year old ID's from 16th and Callowhill. In any case, we're shooting.
Anyone here ever hold or fire a real gun before? I have fired an AK and held a shotgun, however this was not in the US.
I want a fake ID. baddood;
I saw "V and I" and stopped reading.
I shot a shotgun at a farm resort kind of thing. Paintball guns, too. powerofone;
I actually still have some of the shotgun's bullets.

Maybe if you're unaccompanied, but I used to go with my dad to gun ranges and shoot all kinds of stuff... Some ranges require minors to take a gun safety course, though.

It's
Isaac, and I really don't care what you think. My non existent life will continue to still be pretty good regardless.
Yes, considering the first time I ever shot a gun was when I was 3. My dad was way too confident in me. caterpie;
Well, he did pull the trigger for me considering I was a tiny little kid holding this revolver, but still.
And yeah, considering I've grown up in an area where guns are very common, particularly hunting rifles and shotguns (lol hick country), I've shot a few in my time. I never really saw what was so cool about guns, though. Sure, if you have a good reason to know how to shoot a gun well, such as being in law enforcement or just wanting to be a really fucking good hunter, then that's one thing. But shooting them just for the hell of it is something I never found enjoyable. Kind of boring, actually.

It might depend on perspective, you've grown up with guns so their novelty/attraction has probably diminished but for others who have not had such an opportunity it might be really interesting. Then there are the people who just love guns regardlessââ,¬Â¦
There are no guns in New York City thanks to Giuliani.

No he did not. Not only is it unconstitutional for any branch of the government to outright ban
guns but the mayor of NYC does not have that authority. It would be in direct conflict with federal and state laws, not to mention legal case law precedent.

constitution doesn't apply to state but only federal government idort
That is until the Supreme Court decides to apply everything in it to the states.
Quote from: Socks on February 19, 2008, 02:36:18 PM
The Constitution is the "supreme law of the land" it applies to everyone and everything within the United States, and at all level of government, local, state and federal. The Supreme Court only interprets the constitution and how situations pertain to it. As I said before outright banning guns is not constitutional (2nd Amendment). New federal laws must abide my the constitution, same goes for state and local laws. However federal laws are the second highest in terms of authority. State laws are overridden by federal laws and local laws are overridden by state laws etcââ,¬Â¦ This is how the system works.
oh

Would you like to tell me why then, that in Washington D.C. There is a gun ban. Our own nations capital has had a ban on firearms for what I believe is 11 years running. So get your shit straight bro. There is no firearm purchases in that part of our country.
Anti- gun legislation is also very strict which isn't helping crime rates because then the people that need guns to defend themselves are not able to have them and they are shot by criminals robbing them. Our "wonderful" country has fucked up logic.
I am pro gun and a life member of the NRA, in fact my monthly newsletter/magazine came today.
Quote from: Socks on February 19, 2008, 02:59:30 PM
That law was indeed in place but it was ruled unconstitutional by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals and now the case will be reviewed by the Untied States Supreme Court. It was the only place within the United States with such a law and that law was naturally challenged and so far was overturned. It's up to the Supreme Court to decide the issue once and for all, until they do you can't really say that I'm wrong since up to now everything I've said is backed by case law precedent, federal law and the constitution.
I wasn't saying you were wrong, I was merely pointing out a loophole in your argument.

I see, but it's more like bureaucrats abusing their power and demonstrating complete ignorance when it comes to respecting the rights of the people and abiding by the constitution.
Vote Libertarian. =] That is the solution. Read these books if you have a chance:
