Title: Songs that make you really depressed
Post by: The artist formally known on February 18, 2008, 11:28:27 PM
Stop Swimming by Porcupine Tree. If you don't believe me, listen to it, the lyrics.

"I'll leave now this can't continue
But I forget which door I came through"

The 2nd line, is how the writer had no idea how his life had begun, thats what is stopping him from committing suicide I suppose.

Trains is also fucking depressing, the lyrics aren't as depressing but his voice and emotions are.

My brother likes Insignificance the most so I've been listening to it a lot trying to get the feel for them.

I don't really understand what the lyrics mean.

QuoteMan wakes up as a gun
Doesn't get the joke.

Porcupine Tree has awesome lyrics really, only band that I've actually looked up the lyrics and read what other people have thought they meant. They're just poetic really.

Not "depressed" but they definitely put me in a somber thoughtful moodââ,¬Â¦

"Hurt" By Johnny Cash (Not his lyrics but his style suits them so much).

"Redemption Song" By Bob Marley
(You can hear the pain in his voice as he was already diagnosed with cancer and under treatment when he performed this song).

"The Scientist" By Coldplay
"The River" By Bruce Springsteen
"Before the Great Collapse" By Jedi Mind Tricks
"Dear Mama" By Tupac Shakur
"Feel it in the Air" By Beanie Sigel
"Angel" By Sara McLaughlin (Sort of gay but whatever)
"Dead Homiez" By Ice Cube
"Daniel" By Elton John
"Suicidal Thoughts" By the Notorious B.I.G.
"Sing for the Moment" By Eminem
"Soon You'll Understand" By Jay-Z
"Imagine" By John Lennon
"Just a Moment" By Nas Feat. Quan
"Have You Ever Seen The Rain" By Creedence Clearwater Revival
"Imagine" By Snoop Dogg Feat. Dr. Dre
"Doctor My Eyes" By Jackson Browne

"Let it Be" By the Beatles
"Piano Man" By Billy Joel
"Don't Come Down" By Obie Trice
"Retrospect For Life" By Common Feat. Lauryn Hill

That song is pretty sad, the music video of him playing it is terribly sad.

Jesus Porcupine Tree is so awesome but depressing. I love how the lyrics are really part of the music, like when they sing the below in Normal, the new EP, it's so well sang that even if you didn't hear what it says, you'd like how they sing it.

Sullen and bored the kids stay
And in this way they wish away each day
Stoned in the mall the kids play
And in this way they wish away each day

Now I'm listening to What Happens Now?, new EP of course. Jesus christ the lyrics are sad, once again. I really like it but can I have some happy songs now?

Oh god yes, I love this topic.

After being dumped, I pretty much listen to every single one of these songs a bagillion times.
"Adia" Sarah Mclachlan
"Take lots with alcohol" Alkaline Trio
"Prelude 12-21" AFI
"Once Upon a december" -From Anastasia
"Eleanor Rigby" Beatles
"The River" springsteen
"No Future, No Hope" Defiance
"Don't think of me" Dido
"Your Star", "My Immortal", "Lithium"  Evanescence
"Bratja" No idea who did it, it's from FMA
"Mad World" Gary Jules (when I'm feeling more upbeat, i listen to the tff version)
"Hide and Seek" Imogen Heap
"Cardigan Weather" Meg & Dia
"A World so cold" Mudvayne
"It Goes Like it Goes" from the movie Norma Rae (dunno who actually sings it, but it's written by Norman Gimbel)
"Shadwland" From the Lion King broadway. >.>
"Broken Promises for Broken hearts" "I don't want to fall in love" She wants revenge
"What are you looking for" Sick Puppies
"Now it's done" Straylight Run
"Bran-New Lovesong" The pillows
lots of stuff by the used"The kids aren't alright" Offspring

There's more than that that I don't feel like thinking of.

I'm aware the majority of those songs aren't actually sad or suppsoed to be sad, but they just touch me in some way I guess.  doodthing;
