Yes. I write most of the melodies and/or progressions for one of the bands I'm in, and contribute in the other one... I also write jazzy stuff for sax in my own time. Not really "write", more like I'm in a drunken state of musical saturation and bliss one day and just lying around tooting away on my little (big) horn, and I come up with something brilliant, so I call myself and play it for the message machine.

I suck dick at making an interesting melody though.

God why is that so hard? Honestly, how so many bands just poop out incredibly catchy and entertaining melodies...am I just melodically retarded or something?

I've tried, and made up like two good sounding verses in the course of two years. I don't understand it either, and it pisses me off to no end.
