i loved the macbook air befuddlement
The Air is fucking gay. befuddlement
MacBook Air-pointless.
Film rentals from iTunes-pointless.
AppleTV Take 2-pointless.
Time Capsule-Actually has a use, I can get a 500GB of storage for Time Machine and it's a Wi-Fi base station.
$20 to get a few basic apps to the iPod Touch-priceless

hey wouldn't it be cool if that macbook air had a cd drive
I've truthfully never put a CD in this Mac that wasn't a game... and that was once, under Windows.

But lots of other people do, especially now that DVD support is so common.
Also, I don't really like the idea of the Air in general...but I guess I appreciate the slight movement it's making toward SSDs becoming more popular.
I'd never buy one.

And lots of people rip their CDs and movies, or just pirate it all.
Since the Air isn't really designed for people new to computers and instead just an ultra portable mostly made for interaction with a desktop or carrying around whatever you'd normally do on your desktop wherever you go, the use of an optical drive is pretty much null. Rip what you need at home, copy it, and go.
but the lack of firewire is disturbing

I guess, but I wish they had designed it so that people new to computers can make better use of it.
And yes, the lack of firewire is indeed disturbing.

Then they'd get a Macbook, since it's about half the price.

It's not a great idea to use CDs on the go. If you're at home you can use the external CD drive to use them if you need them.
Macbook Air -- Meh. Has it's use, but I wouldn't buy it. Even if it doesn't have an optical drive, it certainly has space for another USB port.
Time Capsule -- Pretty nice, assuming you can partition the drive for Time Machine and simple storage over network.
AppleTV Revamp -- Nice, but it needs DVR functionality. Next revision will probably have it since the FCC has said
DirecTV/Comcast/Dish Network/ect have to allow third party boxes.
iPod Touch Update -- Boring. Show me a 32GB version and we'll talk. Creative and Sandisk both have 32GB Flash players out, there's no reason Apple can't. And $20 for a firmware update is utter bullshit.

I agree wholly.
Yes, lets pay $700 more than the price of a Macbook so I can have less hard drive space, a slower CPU, fewer USB ports, no firewire, and no CD Drive. You can't even replace the Battery, HDD, or add more RAM.
Why not just buy the cheap Macbook if you really wanted a Mac?

Well, 2 gigs of RAM is more than enough for such a little machine.
But aside form that, all true.

what did that have to do with anything? Pay a hundred dollars and stick 4 gigs in your MacBook.

But a Macbook will never truly need four gigs of RAM. There's a point when adding more just won't do anything, unless of course you upgrade your other hardware like your CPU.
And it was entirely relevant, since a person using a Macbook Air will never really have a use for two full gigabytes of RAM unless they're gaming, in which case the Macbook Pro does a far greater job at only $200 more.

And a MacBook Pro will? Tell me, Lawlz, what's the CPU difference between the Black MacBook and the low-end MBP which costs 500 dollars more?

The clockspeed is the same, but the Macbook Pro uses a different Intel platform with a faster FSB, so clockspeed doesn't mean much there. Also note that the MBP has a larger screen, LED backlighting, a pretty good video card, a backlit keyboard, and an Expresscard slot. That's why it's $500 more.

Time Capsule seems like a rip off and Time Machine I'd probably never use but like 3 times ever but I guess it's one of those things you don't relize is awesome until you have it for a while and get use to. $300 for 500gbs is a bit much but the Wifi sounds awesome, like a mini home use only server right?
