When I was about seven, all of my extended family went out west to Idaho for white water rafting. We went through Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois and saw the St. Louis arch, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and went to Mount Rushmore AND WALL DRUG, Wyoming, Montana and, and finally Idaho and to Yellowstone. On the way back, we came through Colorado and to the Grand Canyon.
I also went to South Carolina a few times to the beach, colonial Williamsburg in Virginia on a field trip, and to Snowshoe in West Virginia just for the hell of it.
Every state west of Missouri except for Texas, Alaska, and Hawaii.
And most of the state parks/national parks/national monuments/state monuments in them.

Well, I've never been there, so I wouldn't know. I'm not just talking about the bay though, which is of course amazing in its own regard, but I also just really like the city of Monterey for some reason. I'd like to live in the area some day, though of course the area's real estate makes it impossible for people who aren't pretty damn wealthy.
