Post by: The artist formally known on January 05, 2008, 01:04:32 AM
my friend played a few at his house, some looked amazing, some didn't

ocean's 13 for one, it didn't look AMAZING, sure it was better than dvd but i could still see many poor details.

it was alright, it's way way way way way too long. 2 hours? the first hour was just leading up to the last 30 minues. i stopped watching at the 1 hour mark.

had to leave and it was quite boring. blu ray makes me look at the details more and less about the plot

I told my friend the sides on the Blu-ray discs were round and he was like "I know."

I put the edge on his finger and he was like "Oh what the hell?". I laughed

so you mean instead of the edges like on a gamecube disc or dvd it's smooth

Also, I'd rather a cheap HD-DVD player.

It's round and by the way Bluray is going to win

Just get the one that plays both then either way you're not fucked.

Or wait.

I'll wait, but I know Bluray is going to win, but in the future I won't be surprised if it's both formats, but mostly Bluray. Hybrid Bluray/HDDVD players

I wouldn't count HD-DVD out yet. The movie companies are constantly flip-flopping, HD-DVD has a higher player install base, and the Chinese government is supporting HD-DVD.

I'm rooting for HD-DVD, but only because if it does win the format war, I'll be able to get a cheap one to attach to my 360.

Unless the Chinese Government somehow makes the Chinese into making HD-DVDs/players it doesn't mean shit. But if their government can take control over their market, yes, that will help HD-DVD out a lot. But of course that doesn't change what movie companies support Bluray and so far, it's leaning towards Bluray.
