I bought a drum set off of a friend today. It's a pretty nice kit, too, although the drums need a bit of tuning. I made a quick demo video if you want to check it out:

Obviously, I'm not very good, but I've only had two lessons so far. It's loads of fun just to play a rudimentary 4/4 rock beat, though it is a bit of a workout. I still haven't set up the cymbals, but I don't really need to do that until I can hold a few beats together and play in time.
Can't see the vid. Drums are cool. I have the Rock Band version of the drums. But practice like an hour a day for about a week and you should get it.

You should be able to now.
Yes I did. Try doing more than that beat. Can't really tell your "skills" with that one beat. nigro;
Awesome. Are you on a mission to learn as many instruments as you can or something?
That's awesome, Houdini. I've always wanted to learn how to play the drums, but have never had an opportunity to do so.

I don't have any skills. I can't play much besides that beat yet. I just wanted to demo the set.

Same here, but as you can see, I finally got an opportunity to do so. If you're interested, you should scrape together enough money to buy a set, because I'm having a lot of fun so far. I hear mowing lawns is pretty lucrative.

Well, when I do get a job, I have other priorities that will be paid for before buying a drum set. Although, if I can get enough after those priorities, I just may go and get one.
Who are you again?

Houdini on Boyah, Optimistic on Outsider, Slomokirby on Nsider. You probably don't know me.
That's cool. Drums are fun, especially when you get better... my dad's finer years were spent drumming, so at his house he's got a $4000 DW kit with double bass pedals and a shitload of awesome Sabian AAX/HHX's. At my mom's I have a humble vintage Pearl kit with lesser Sabians. I'll put up a video sometime.

Do you mean a double bass pedal or two separate bass drums?

[/quote]I know a guy with a Pearl kit. I like the snare sound.

Double bass pedal. Two bass drums is annoying because you constantly have to check that they're in tune.

If they are in tune, though, they sound better than a double bass pedal.
You're the next JOE MONTANA! magician;

what instrument do you play regularily?

Bass.
Drop us a sweet bass line on Youtube sometime then.
Also, you should totally play slap bass.
Before I got a guitar years back, I was actually in the store to buy a drum set. The drums are the instrument I wanted to play first.
But then I got a guitar instead.
The drums are an awesome instrument, and a song could be made by a great drum beat, but I just don't see the point of having a set if you're not in a band (which I wasn't at the time, and still aren't)
A beat can only take you so far.
But still, good job. Keep practicing if you enjoy it.
