I'm seeing lots of contradictory nonsense in this thread. It's really hard to tell just what you're trying to say.
Okay. JMV says addiction is a disease. A disease is typically said to be a biological impairment in an organism that impairs its functions. By that definition, addiction is indeed a disease, but only because of the chemical dependancy.
He says it can't be cured, only suppressed. I don't think the data exists that gives us a good reason to say this is true or not. You can't physically observe the presence or lack of a chemical dependancy inside someone's body.
Most signs point toward JMV's conclusion. Relapses are immensely common, as are lasting little tidbits of said addictions that may go unnoticed for the most part. But we can't be sure, because we can't observe a "cured" patient. We don't know what a "cured" patient even looks like.
Quit bringing other diseases into this. They're irrelevant.
