Title: A cheap and decent digital camera...
Post by: bluaki on November 30, 2007, 02:15:48 PM
Can those two go together at all?
I want one that doesn't look blurry, doesn't have messed up lighting, saves to a resolution of like atleast 640x480 or so, and doesn't take more than like 3-4 seconds between when the capture button is pressed and when it's done saving (less time is better though I wouldn't give up much extra money for a bit less time). I'd prefer it to have a screen though I don't expect it. I guess my preferred card type to use is regular SD since I already have both a 1gig and a 2.
I mean really cheap too, like $50-$100 and hopefully closer to the $50 mark.

I know like nothing about digital cameras. Is this expectation high or low or what? Does anybody have specific recommendations about it?

I seriously don't have a regular digital camera (although getting one will ruin my excuse to not post pics of me here). The closest I can use is a digital camcorder my mother bought a while back for like $90 and its pictures are extremely blurry, has really poor capture of lighting (everything always looks dark), and it takes the camera like 6 seconds to process a picture before saving.

50-60 dollars? No. But I know very decent cameras within the 130-200 price range.

640x480 is an absolutely horrible resolution for photographs, my camera takes pictures at 3072x2304. Most pictures you see on the internet have been resized.

But yeah, I have a Nikon Coolpix S200, it's a quality cheap camera. It was $200 which is a bit beyond your price range, but it's worth it. It takes videos and stuff as well, it does in fact have a screen and uses SD cards, and the wait between taking the picture and saving it is pretty much instantaneous. Look at some pictures I've posted to judge for yourself how good the image quality is (although some pictures might look a bit shitty because I didn't know how to set the ISO in the past). It also has an assload of other features you probably wouldn't care about. If you can't already tell, I love my little camera. wub;
My camera was $350 two years ago  caterpie;

I love the little thing. It's about $200 now
