Title: My quest for NEW MUSIC
Post by: Selkie on November 05, 2007, 03:36:59 PM
Recommend me some bands, albums, songs.

Anything but heavy metal, punk, classic rock.

Best would be prog rock, good rap(not mainstream), jazz, and latin.

The Black Keys. Nobody seems to be interested in them and it's pissing me off. They've got a nice classic sound with a slight flair of modernism. They're a blues rock band primarily, and they're a duo. They're also quite new...circa 2004 I think.

I find it unlikely that he hasn't already tried Yes or Rush.

But if you want to name popular ones, okay. King Crimson.

Most people don't don't of Yes though, sadly.

I don't like King Crimson as much as everyone else does ;_;
I do like them, but I don't love them. ;_;

Dr. Octagon/Kool Keith is one of the best underground rappers. Highly recommended.

Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Duke Elington, and Charles Mingus are all essential jazz.

The last two songs are great, Time Consumer is mellow though I do like it. Welcome Home kicks ass though it's not on there. And fuck you if you think they're emo or anything. You don't know shit.

Listen to it before judging because you may like it though you thought you hated it.

I thought the singer was a girl the first time I heard them. caterpie;
I didn't, I really don't think it sounds girly, it just sounds a little high pitched  caterpie;
