My school says we can't cite Wiki for anything ever. They pretend all the entries are written by juvenile fuckwits and that the site can't be trusted.

Well of course you're expected to get multiple sources and compare them to each other.
Also Wikipedia is a summary of the things it cites.

In a perfect world, yes. But it's more of a compilation of the writers' knowledge rather than that of a digest of reputed sources. For particularly controversial claims, yes, sources must be used. But the majority of statements are not backed by references.
I agree that it shouldn't be cited, but yeah most schools including mine act like it is the worst source of information anywhere and anyone can come in and write false information.
I'd like to see them add a false fact and see how long it takes for wiki mods to ask them for a source or delete it all together. psyduck;

But that's also why some articles have notices at the top telling you that it may need to be cleaned up or corrected.
Really what pisses me off is how my teachers constantly rant about the horrible travesty of Wikipedia and how it is polluting our minds with nonsense. My civics teacher went on one day about how the EU is 100% for supporting anti-Wiki procedures.

My French teacher liked it, given that it was the only French encyclopedia available to her. Wasn't very happy when the district blocked access.

My school is a little less strict about Wiki. It really depends on the topic and teacher.
Some will allow it while others discourage its use.
