Agreed. On the opposite side, everyone raves about Corruption.
I'm in my first playthrough right now. It's actually very good, and comparable to the original.
Why do you hate it?
ITT People have different opinions.

Level design blows. Story blows. Seriously, the story fucking sucked. It's boring. FUCKING BACKTRACKING. I FUCKING HATE BACKTRACKING.

Then you should hate every Metroid game with a passion.
Also, the story was better than the non-existant story of the first one. psyduck;

In the other Metroid games, you got to explore new areas with new powers. In Metroid Prime 2, you go to find fucking twelve keys for no god damn reason except to make the game longer. One of the fucking laziest methods to make a game longer.
Most NES games didn't have a story. The original Metroid didn't need a story. The good gameplay was incenitive enough to keep playing. MP2 didn't have one and it was incredibly boring.

There was just as much backtracking in MP and MP2 from what I've played.

What the hell are you talking about? 90% of Metroid 1 involved trying to figure out where the hell you were and how to get out. psyduck;
Also, I found about half of the key things by just normally progressing through the game. I only had to go back and find about 4 or 5 others that I missed.

Same thing for me. That goes for the Artifacts in MP1 and the Keys in MP2. I just have to go find a few more.

In new places. In MP2, you had to go back and find keys IN THE SAME GOD DAMN PLACE.
MP2 fucking sucked.

Don't know. It's sure as hell isn't Metroid Prime 2, though.

In the same place? I remember at where a lot of the artifacts were in MP because I recently beat it. A lot of them were not in different rooms, but were in rooms that were heavily used before.
Such as the ice water fall in Phendana(SP) , the two communication towers in Phendana, beating that Elite Pirate in some research room, and the Lava Lake one.
I'm sure there are more. Those are the ones I can name off the top of my head. I don't care much if you think MP is better than MP2, but at least state plausible reason for why you think so. psyduck;

The only valid reason for hating MP2 is because of the dark world. It's essentially the same exact thing as the light world, only with different enemies.
But since I loved battling the Ing, I can't even complain about that.

I also thought it was sort of annoying. But it gave you a little feel of ALttP when you have to go to the dark world through one portal, and then go back to Light Aether through another to get an item/power-up.
