I'm trying to think of something to transplant this new PC's guts into, because I don't like its case (calling it a case is a stretch, actually).
It can't be too small, because I have to fit the existing ATX motherboard and graphics card and two hard drives and two CD drives in it.
I'm thinking maybe one of the old compact Macs I have. I could then try to reassemble the Mac in something else. It might not look great, though, because I'd have to take out the little 9" CRT monitor.
AN ATARI 2600 JOYSTICK weewee;
And it's big enough to satisfy me. gooncamp;
If you can find a big enough toaster, use that. You can use a slot for the place to insert a disc drive.

Hah, that's an awesome idea.
I'll have trouble finding a toaster that measures at least like 10" by 8", though. psyduck;

That would be sweet.
Buy an old G4 iMac and gut it.
I hope you mean the case for the actual shit in the thing. (http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category.aspx?Category=3&name=Barebones-Accessories) psyduck;

Those cases are all ugly and expensive.
On my PC I built I spent most of my budget on the case

lol OS X skin.
I used one towards the end of my PC's lifetime. I uninstalled it all but had to a system restore because my taskbar would only come up if I hovered my mouse near it.

NES is possible, but not with the hardware I have now. I'd have to get a much smaller motherboard.

An old DVD player?

An old DVD player?
Maybe. A stereo would be better, because the graphics card/other PCI cards stick up perpendicular to the motherboard 3-5 inches. And fitting a power supply in a DVD player would be a feat of magic.
I think I'm going to get a vintage suitcase, and build the thing into that. I'll cut some holes in the back for the power supply and motherboard/graphics I/O, then somehow secure everything in there...

Good luck making a bay for the hard drive and CD/DVD drives, making the ports align properly in the hole, and shit when you can just buy a nice one for about 80 bucks.

I definitely don't have $80 for a computer case.
I could easily make bays for things... some sheet metal (which I have lots of), tin snips and muscle. caterpie;

Would it be possible to make it so that you could open the suitcase and just see everything that was inside it?
That would be fucking awesome. navi;
Hook up your older computers to a TV and buy some wireless game pads, instant MAME.
