Gradius for the NES?

The first one is pretty annoying. It's not bad, but I don't love it either. Think of Life Force  as a sequel that's superior in every single way, but not really a sequel.

Annoying is an understatement, because if you die once you respawn close to where you died, except you don't have your power-ups anymore and you're screwed.

Also is Gradius 3 any better as well?

Gradius 3 is more similar to Life Force, but it feels more annoying.

Also, any good shmup spawns another ship to where you died. When I got Super Nova and saw you respawned at checkpoints instead of where you died, even though you get a chance to grab a few powerups , I was pissed.

Oh god, R-Type is a perfect example of how respawning should not be done. Super R-Type forces you back to the beginning, and the others have those god damn check points.

The game itself is amazing, but I'd rather they only give you one life than make me restart from an awkward position.
