I was brainstorming things for Valentrinne to expand to earlier, and thought of a ROM site, mostly dealing with NES, SNES, and other 8/16-bit consoles... it's been done to death, yes, but nearly every ROM site you can find is either full of ads, full of porn, horribly organized, incomplete, or all of the above. So I was thinking, I could do one that solves all of these issues. Nice and functional layout, very minimal or no ads, and for the most part a complete ROM library for at least NES. It would be beneficial having the close ties that I do with www.virtualnes.com, for obvious reasons.
So, have any thoughts; anyone interested in possibly helping with this if it becomes a reality?
Oh, also, it could possibly bring Boyah lots of members.

I'm all for emulation, and my friend has some discs with literally every SNES and NES ROMs you could ever dream of on them that I could borrow if need be.
However I imagine it'd be hard to upload those what with me having dial up. :(
Not to mention it's illegal.
Also, we'd never be able to talk about our site again at Nsider unless we want to risk getting v&.
I'd rather we upload kiddie porn.
I'm in it just for the Earthbound
Not that my opinion matters, but I'd rather see us having homebrewed stuff on the site, as far as I know, it's perfectly legal, and maybe we can start a little game design group to make homebrew games (but the point is that it's legal and they are games, which are meant to be played v;).

Yeah, I'm perfectly fine with homebrew. If we design a game that runs under an NES emulator or something, I have no problems with that.

Maybe also PS2 (among other systems) homebrew?

Meaning it's uber hard (and none of you are willing to try) or "not in this lifetime!"?

No one here is that skilled with programming.
Hell, I doubt we have anyone here skilled enough to develop and NES game, but it'd be much easier than developing a PS2 game.

Uh, yeah, a homebrew site is a good idea, but like Lawlz said, none of us have that sort of skill... making a NES games doesn' seem like it'd be incredbly difficult, though.
I could help you with the site design and all that shit, but we need to do something more crowd-attracting rather than a damn NES fangame shit.

I personally don't because I just buy any carts I want, but a lot of people do... and I just thought of this: what if we developed a flash cart for like, SNES or NES or something? Like the GBA/DS ones, except... for NES.
Probably way out of our league. caterpie;
