Prince of Persia Sands of Time got a ton of GOTY awards and high scores across the board on release. I thought it was fine, but after about 7 hours of playing I realized I wasn't particularly having fun, and didn't think there was anything special about it.

I've seen many 9's and 10's given to this game, even though they still point out that the story is nigh non-existent.
but after playing it for around 20 hours, I just don't think it stands with the rest of the series.
its still quite good, but a serious disappointment for being the last real MGS game

compared to 2nd era TR sure, those were ass, but compared to OG tomb raider i wouldn't really say so. TR 1 & 2 were some of my favorite playstation games to play at my buds house after school back in the day. the reboot just took itself so damn seriously, but it still retained the underlying silly, outlandish story of the originals, which just clashed really harshly for me. if you want to have a magical treasure adventure that's cool, but don't spend half the game with the gritty stick shoved up your asshole
which is why i wanna get to Rise soon because i'm hoping they got the GRITTY ORIGIN STORY shit out of their system so i can just play a silly tomb raider game

i think the game is alright as a whole, but nobody actually takes sonic fandom seriously
i liked amnesia: the dark descent overall but it wasn't really as scary as everyone made it out to be

because it's crazy different in gameplay, I don't dig its space theme, and I find the genre wholly unsatisfying. Meanwhile with Civ I'm creating history which I find awesome. Age of Empires would be similar but unfortunately I don't have fun playing its RTS style

yeah the sonic and shadow levels are alright (made more standable by RUNNING AROUND AT THE SPEED OF SOUND), but everything else about that game is garbage, thank u nostalgia

whereas i liked the reboot precisely because it's a decent uncharted clone with slightly greater weapon variety and an upgrade system lol
no denying that the writing isn't remotely as high quality as uncharted's is (well, except maybe 3's awdood;)
the story was campy, the supernatural elements felt out of place (which is funny because it's supposed to be tomb raider), every single character is a forgettable nobody except muh sam, and it definitely is a shame that """tombs""" were nothing more than skippable two-minute puzzles
but i think it's an adequately satisfying gameplay experience if you're an uncharted fan
but for tomb raider fans, i can definitely see why there would be massive disappointment with the route the reboot and rise of the tomb raider have taken, they're barely tomb raiders at all

every single stunt is a frustrating and very often lethal struggle with an excessively convoluted control scheme in the original tomb raider, a ruthless exercise in anger management with absolutely no concern for the player's finite patience
sounds like you just suck at old games i had no problems playing it when i was 10 lol
i'm sure that's a part of it but i've played plenty of other 3d games from that era and tomb raider is by far the least intuitive
