Title: Street Fighter V

this is actually really cool, and the fact that it's Capcom of all companies doing this is insane

Inb4 micro transactions that let you unlock all of the stuff like in MKX ifeelbetter;

really cool. might actually get into SFV if i have a console for it

really annoyed of how fighting games release sequels to individual games with just minor content change. has always been confusing for me when i am looking to get into a fighter that has multiple renditions. also seems like a cheap way to get cash

hopefully this avoids that trend

so they're basically adopting the -free to play system.

you can earn fight money by playing the game, and use that to buy dlc, or you can purchase "zenny" with real money to get dlc

fugk f2p games

f2p is worse than early access
Title: Re: Street Fighter V
Post by: Samus Aran on July 19, 2015, 06:54:56 PM
watch the money you can earn in-game to be ridiculously hard to earn, or take way more time than any sane person has

so that we have to just pay for most of the dlc anyway if we want it
Title: Re: Street Fighter V
Post by: strongbad on July 20, 2015, 07:26:24 AM
I still like it better than dlc lol
It's basically dlc that you have the option to grind for which is better than not having the option to begin with

exactly. Honestly it's a very smart move, and one I hope other devs take.
and if the game turns out to be, like the best SF ever, shoot, I'll take the grind option. It's also good practice.

The only problem I can foresee, is that the in-game money POSSIBLY can only be earned via multiplayer... likely ONLINE multiplayer, which means you're paying for PS Plus.

remember when you could just pop in a game and play it, and not wait for 10 updates?

I don't mind the updates tbh. If I have to wait a few minutes so that bugs can be patched I'm fine with that.

I do love how capcom states, "The initial release disc, is the ONLY disc you'll need..."

I can still halfway guarantee that we still will see updated "Super" and/or "Ultra" versions.
I mean, we can't expect capcom to fully leave behind their ways, can we?
Title: Re: Street Fighter V
Post by: Kalahari Inkantation on July 20, 2015, 12:10:59 PM
at the very least it'll eventually have a game of the year edition equivalent, even if the content included can all also be purchased (or """unlocked""") as dlc for the original release

Even in the SNES days, at least 5 iterations is pushing it.
With 4, they made 4 seperate iterations, which is already a lot, with dlc combined.

I wonder if capcom will be smart and continue this way of thinking (free unlockables) or once again take a step back and go back to their old ways

as somebody who has never played a street fighter game and doesn't plan to start with 5, i must say

i absolutely love this game's aesthetic and special effects lol

everything from the movement of cloth and hair to the expressive colors and deep shadowing, the vibrant claylike ribbon effects that highlight special attacks, and the way the action pauses for a split second with every hit is just so satisfying to look at

it's so much nicer than sfiv with its muddy low-res textures that bleed into each other

and yet from what i can tell, hxxc street fighter fans seem to hate the way it looks lol

They say that they changed his inputs, so if he is no longer a charge character, to me, that improves him drastically

So the march update has a release date now. but it's two different days..... :(

March 28th sees the additions of the challenge mode stuff, and character trials, as well as improved lobby stuff, online rematch option, and various bug fixes.

March 30th sees the release of Alex, and the in-game shop, so that your fight money will finally get some use.

Supposedly, Ryu and Chun-li's story mode costumes will be given away for free (which is cool cause honestly I don't really care about Chun-li's, so getting it free saves me from spending some FM on it and Ryu is still just Ryu, but with different hair)

i know. i sorta agree. it would've been nice if they vega'd him, to not be a charge character, but at the same time, it fits his move set more.

and he has more tricks at his disposal to compliment his two charge moves.
