So it's almost October. We made one of these threads last year, so here's one for 2016.
You guys plan on playing any horror/horror-themed games for October this year? I'm gonna shoot to complete at least a few of these:
Silent Hill 2
RE Code Veronica
Outlast
Monster Party
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
If possible, I'd like to finish all of these in October, but that seems unlikely so I'll at least shoot for finishing most of them. hocuspocus;
This year I'm going for
Sweet Home
Silent Hill
Resident Evil Revelaitions 2
Dracula X
and The Evil Within
I need to finish silent Hill also.
Really would like to suggest- for Halloween SPIRIT indies:
Fingerbones. Free on steam, it literally does not take much to finish at all- 30 minutes. You can't save, so you have to finish it in one sitting. I thought it was ok for it being free.
Fright Light. A dollar on steam- I REALLY suggest this game, it's funny as it parodies screamer type shit, and it was literally made by someone in their own house, all stop motion. And it can startle lmao- it did me in
Halloween Forever. It's on steam- EARLY BIRD RIGHT NOW for $3. It's doesn't vary in enemies and music much so far, and it's very short. Though, the dev's going to give an update to it with more sprites, levels, music, and playable characters this week for the first time in ages.
Here's its ADORABLE mascot:
(http://i.imgur.com/bTx9Xsv.gif)
also it has a sick boss theme:
https://bclikesyou.bandcamp.com/track/boss-theme
I just love it too much. It satisfies the Halloween Spirit in me COMPLETELY.

Anyway, I have Resident Evil Revelations on my 3DS, bought it on sale on eshop for $5 lmao. I've also bought lame mystery item find games for a dollar on 3DS' eshop.
I really want to play more spooky shit but uhh, I only have a 2009-tier laptop, 3DS, and Wii U. I also have GBASP to play older GB/GBC games. And I can't emulate for SHIT bc shit laptop.
tfw
EDIT: I can mod my Wii, so maybe I can learn how to play games from my USB. Never played Resident Evil 4.
i'm not planning to beat them all but this is my current pool:
QuoteDoom 3

you could play the evil within like I am...
I started Cry of Fear and freaked myself out a little bit because I didn't know what to expect and I had my headphones on and my volume turned up pretty loud.
I accidentally spooked myself last night.
I was listening to Hisako's theme from Killer Instinct, and it starts out quiet and spooky. I had the headphones on kinda loud, and about 20 or so seconds in, it screeches.
guess i'm playing re4 smithicide;
oh yeah, I didn't post it here....
Finished Silent Hill

you could say it's [glow=black,2,300]scary good[/glow]
Don't think I posted it here but I got all five FN@F games.
My niece and nephew played and although they seemed more scared than me, I reacted much worse than I thought to jump scares. For fourth and fifth seemed much scarier than all the rest. I have not been involved in jump scares ever since eBaumsworld and 2006-7 YouTube era. I think the build up in FN@F is great though even if it's really obvious when it'll come up.
I'm kinda glad I can be easy to scare sometimes because I love horror when it works. :3
Bought Chase: Cold Case Investigations - Distant Memories (lol what a long title jesus) and it may not be spooky at all but pssh whatever a murder is still uhh spooky i guess lmao
I also have Resident Evil: Revelations to get through.
I am also getting Amnesia as well. Been dying to play since summer of 2011...maybe not dying bc I've dragged it for such a long time but w/e
please add more reqs because I'm new to PC gayming :3

To celebrate Halloween here, ehh mainly for those who have Steam accounts- I have a little contest.
Post here the most scariest personal experience you've ever had irl.
If I thought it was spooky, I'll gift you "Halloween Forever" on Steam. I just need an e-mail to enter in for Steam.
I'll award the game two times. You have until Oct. 30th. I don't wanna do it on Halloween bc i may have plans that time

It's great. For an NES game (famicom whatever), it can be genuinely spooky sometimes.

I beat it yesterday, and i liked it overall, but it does have some faults lol
and i played on casual, according to hl2b it can take a good additional four hours to beat it on survival/normal
edit: by which i mean feel free to play it on casual because survival is apparently p. difficult lol
casual didn't feel too easy to me

no thats not really my problem. Those are all valid points,
I just dont know if I'll finish it by the end of October.
I just am kind of in a castlevania mood, so I've been playing a few of those, and I want to finish replaying Lament of Innocence.
Evil Within isn't a priority for me anymore, so I'll finish it later I guess
lol holy shit

played the "separate ways" mode for re4 and, uhh.....it sucked. the only thing of note that happened in it was the fight against "normal" saddler. the rest of it was mostly just a rehash of leon's campaign with a shittier character who dies in 2 hits. also the cutscenes looked like utter SHIT because of the resolution. i mean i guess the whole point was to give you more insight into ada's actions in the plot but shouldn't she at least play a little differently from leon??? i went in expecting to do new stuff like idk maybe using the hookshot to sneak around zombies or something but nope you just mow down the same hordes of enemies just like leon. i know i shouldn't be so disappointed since it was just an unlockable extra mode, but still.

there was a whole new area....
but other than that, yeah you got the gist of it. It's a bonus mode.
that and assignment ada are really just meant to be little extras so yeah, nothing special
mercenaries, however, fucking rules and i love it

i used to "speedrun" re4 because it was the only new game i had for like 3 years lol. my best new game+ glitchless run was a hair below 2 hours which was pretty cool i guess, i wish i didn't have a million games now so i could get back into running that game
i started SOMA last night and it immediately slaps you with Frictional's "LOOK WE HAVE PHYSICS, OPEN THE CUPBOARDS, PULL OUT THE DRAWERS, LOOK FOR STUFF!" so i was kind of immediately turned off from continuing lol, i didnt even get to the spooky parts yet
just finished re4 hocuspocus;
and i didn't hate it this time !!!
It was good, but I still wish its controls weren't so stiff. And the Wii version is supposedly the most most fluid option. myface;
Very Important Stats:
hit ratio: 73% 5thgrade;
enemies killed: 965
clear time: 22h 35m
is separate ways worth completing
also, tfw the game gives you an infrared scope for the regenerators and you don't have a rifle 5thgrade;
i actually somehow made it through those chapters, and ultimately the entire game, without ever buying one lol

i say it is, but you are mostly retreading old ground, except one new area, and a (sort of) new boss. It's really just more RE4, from Ada's perspective.
i'm not really enjoying SOMA tbh lol, it does the other frictional game thing of making the story SUPER fucking convoluted unless you pick up and read every scrap of paper you find while constantly hitting you with disjointed sound bites as a means of telling you the story.
like so far it's literally amnesia in space (or am i even in space i dont fucking actually know)
but at least in that game your confusion is laid out in the title and in this one it's just implied you should be used to not knowing what the fuck is going on because you're playing a frictional game
i might keep playing but i kind of just want to switch over to alien isolation if it's going to be so pretentious the whole time lol

Resident Evil HD
