while I agree that doing this at all fucking sucks, we already know that this is only for some games. if i had to guess, it is likely going to be taken advantage of by third parties to cut costs, as nintendo's insistence on using these SD cards costs developers a lot of extra money. the cards are a lot more expensive to manufacture than blu ray discs, from what I understand

afaik the only ones confirmed to be getting this "fake" phys release on launch are street fighter 6 and the bravely default remaster. definitely sucks for the latter.

one thing to keep in mind though is that even that could still get a proper phys release in some regions. its been common for the past decade for some things, like more niche releases, to only release digitally in the west but get phys versions with english on them in japan, s korea, or just general asian region releases. play-asia has been a godsend for this

also unfortunately i kind of saw this coming as we were already having an issue with many third party developers only including parts of a release on the phys switch cartridge, with the rest being required to download

it all sucks for sure! and nintendo's reliance on these cards is most likely the main culprit lol

I need new music recs,

recently been into bossa nova, some easy listening shiet from the 1950s (henry mancini and ppl doing covers of real old stuff)

and then I go back and forth with game osts, 2008-2013 math rock/emo/punk/showgaze/w/e, 2011-2018 ironic hop, jpn jazz fusion stuff like round table (w/ nino). really have not evolved tastes beyond 2020, I just keep finding older music I like.

there's def a ton of ppl against nintendo this time around, moreso regarding pricing in general, learning the tech behind it, and how bowser and even trinen tried to salvage the pricing situation (they didn't)
though I do believe that it's just fake outrage ngl and that ppl are gonna eat this shit up anyway lmao

but after learning that backward compatibility is limited and that physical games are basically just keys, ummm lmao
like even I can't support such a lame practice

the console price honestly doesn't seem too bad, but the cost of games is ridic, and I think it's lame they're not gonna pair this game with some tech demo tier game this time around too.
