he is a rescue who was being offered for free by a foster carer. she's been having trouble finding a home for him, likely because he's already an adult (2 years old) and because he has slight bone problems from his previous owners neglecting him - he was malnourished. he's doing pretty well now though! he's mostly recovered. plus it's just kinda hard to find people willing to adopt a lizard, i suppose.
i'm not sure what i'm going to name him, i was considering Ridley tho lmao
rescue that boy wrench;

adult beardies eat roughly 80% vegetation and 20% insects. typically stuff like collards/mustard/turnip greens for the vegetation, but there's plenty of other stuff you can use too. for insects, most people use crickets, and they're certainly the most affordable option. but i may add in superworms too.
feed him some cats
no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you want a small dragon, well you're gonna have one pal; dont blame me
Do you have other green pets Samus Aran? Your pet is going to a good home :)
My family used to have bearded dragons when I was a young child. I don't remember too much about them other than having heat lamps and feeding them live crickets
Didnt Skylark have bearded dragons too

50 gallon tank. its a bit odd for a terrarium because it's curved, and i couldn't find a screen top that fits such a tank, so i had to settle with just having a rectangular one that doesn't really snap onto the tank, it'll just kinda sit on it lol. the lamp hood will keep it from moving, though. the current owner (more of a foster carer) is selling me this tank and its stand for $20. down the line i may switch to a more traditional, rectangular terrarium.
picking up this boy today!!!!!!

in Arizona?? they're native to Australia befuddlement
you have plenty of lizards that do live there, but beardies aren't one of them
Quote from: Snowy on August 11, 2018, 05:57:04 AMBearded dragons are pretty cool, a buddy of mine has 2 of them and they got huuuuuge. Do you know what morph he is?
Classic/standard. He resembles the types of beardies that can be found in the wild in Australia.
My boy is on the small side. This is probably partially due to his previous owners being shitty pet owners and not feeding him well.
I remember going over to my friend's house for the first time and his mom had nine bearded lizards each in their own tank
Jesus. That's impressive. But yeah they're solitary creatures. You can only put females together in the same tank. Though I don't know why you would do that unless you have a ridiculously massive (like 80-100 gallon) tank.
Males will undoubtedly fight, and of course if you've got a male and female together, the male is going to try to bang the female. Which will cause babies and/or a shortened life span for the female due to stress.

he is striking quite the beauty pose in this second photo
I can't believe you adopted a twink
like father like son
akudood;
he cute n_n
you know what's really cute?? if you're not sure your beardie is getting enough water, one way to make sure they drink is to give 'em a lil spray on the nose. they'll tilt their head down and lick the water off the tip of their nose. it's adorable.
I'm going to need video evidence of this.
i'll get some video of it sometime. he's got his tank cover on and his lights off right now so he can sleep.
What a handsome guy

I was jokin' boss.
Quote from: Snowy on August 12, 2018, 12:18:56 PMkaz I recommend getting one of those cheap temp guns from Home Depot or something. really easy to get your temp gradient like that.
I'll consider it but simply having two thermometers in the tank works for now
ol' slug king
Quote from: Snowy on August 12, 2018, 07:12:54 PMdo beardies run off of floor temp or ambient air temp?
air temp. you can get below-tank heaters, but they're considered largely pointless for beardies. and things like heater rocks are very bad for them.
his basking lamp above his basking perch keeps that spot of the tank at around 95 degrees, which is pretty ideal. the cooler side of the tank usually sits around 83 degrees, which again is great. so we're doing well for temperature.
okay cool i forgot this existed
this boy is crazy about blueberries

he's doing well. he is still mid-shed. his whole back is all new scales now, but he's still got to shed his tail and his underside.
