But how on earth is anyone supposed to know when a topic is moved? As far as I can see, I didn't get any sort of alert, and there's no residual 'moved' thread in the topic's board of origin.

if i didn't know any better i would have assumed it was just deleted

the admins have the ability to make the residual threads happen. Yeah it seems like moving a thread is as good as deleting one without a notification.

I would think just marking the thread as unread when moved would be enough for people to see it in the new location

as far as i can see, no

the residual thread and complementary pm really are quite useful, and at the VERY least there should be a notification of some sort, but i didn't see even that much
