I have very mixed feelings about this.

I think we all knew a sequel was inevitable, but I'm quite surprised it actually features both Joel and Ellie themselves as the protagonists. I had been hoping that if indeed there were to be a sequel, it'd feature a new cast and setting so as to avoid cheapening the impact of the first game.

i honestly can't see an avenue they could possibly take this continuation story in without readdressing the ending of tlou 1, and that worries me greatly

the unapologetic finality of that ending is what makes it so intense and remarkable

but hopefully they'll find some way to do it tactfully

but yeah that's entirely how i feel, i don't really have anything to add lol. i expected we'd get TLoU II eventually because there's a huge demand for it for some reason, but yeah, I figured they'd do like some sort of same-setting-different-characters piece with maybe a cameo at some point from Ellie at the most; i really hope this doesn't just totally shit on the tight and somber ending the first game had. but i have faith those naughty dogs wouldn't do it if they didn't have a grand idea to keep things good so i guess we'll see

i'm also very bemused that a lof of fan 'theories' are immediately jumping to the conclusion that ellie is 'hallucinating' joel being there, i'm tired of this mental illness trope and want it to die
