so assuming it's a vehicle with front-wheel drive:

remove foot from accelerator, but don't use your brakes (or only pump them gently if you use them at all) and steer into the direction of your skid as opposed to away from it. the weight of the vehicle will rebalance and you will have a much better chance of your tires regaining a grip

the whole reason most skids happen is because people do exactly the opposite: frantically steer away from the direction they're skidding and keep their foot on the brakes: this just makes your car into a spinning hockey puck with stationary wheels

granted, some of the stuff happening in the video was probably unavoidable given the conditions. i imagine a bus going downhill on really bad ice can't really be controlled again until it's decelerated at the bottom of the hill, and unfortunately the bottom of that hill was an intersection full of cars. but like, the cop and truck drivers were genuine idiots

so i was driving for work after it snowed, and flagstaff doesn't salt the streets it controls because it kills the poor trees, when some shit head decided to pull out right in front of me on an icy section of the road.  did a pretty cool drift on the ice in a shitty focus on a spare tire tbh m8s
