As a person who has used public transit, the issue is that seats on most public transit systems are more narrow than the width of sizable portion of the male population utilizing this transit.

It results in uncomfortable situations where you either need to "manspread" to push people away or fight for shoulder space as you are literally sitting with people whose shoulders are wider than the chair

I end up standing because I can't stand people touching me.

im not sure i understand, are u saying in order to combat the inevitable spatial discomforts that come with taking public transportation you would suggest an approach that enables discomfort for others in order to possibly retain minimal comfort for oneself?
