Funny that happened to you, it kinda happened to me.

I applied as an account manager, but was missing just a small chunk of experience needed (lacking call center experience but had everything else) but the manager liked me so much she got me into another department.

I got a processor job at a Credit repair/mortgage company place.

Basically I am behind the scenes. When they get new accounts, I pull history, credit inquiries, and sort of discrepancy or negative item and try and work with the companies to fix them. I then report to the account managers and they take it from there with the clients.
