Nintendo 3DS is here to stay. Let me throw out a number that might surprise you. So far, on a global basis, Nintendo 3DS has sold more hardware than PS4 and Xbox One—combined. Most people find this shocking.

the 3ds came out a full 2.5 years before the ps4 and xbox one at about half the price of either, and still it and needed an $80 price cut in its first few months before it was actually viable

and in just another 1.5 years the ps4 will have eclipsed the 3ds's lifetime total

how insecure is nintendo to be touting such disingenuous statistics lol, the only reason "most people find this shocking" is because most people have forgotten nintendo exists at all

how about this for a "shocking" figure: in its four years on the market, the 3ds has barely managed to achieve even 1/3 the sales of its predecessor, and remains about 30 million units behind the lowly psp

how to forge a buzz around a game that was otherwise never going to sell: create demand by making it artificially scarce, then sit back and watch as a terrible product becomes highly sought-after among collectors and scalpers (synonyms, really)
