i think there actually is some truth to that first claim

zelda today does not have the same mind share that it did back in the n64-gamecube era, in part because new releases are less frequent and in part because the most recent games have been relatively less remarkable within their genre (or outright bad like tri force heroes)

today the forces dominant in the action adventure genre are things like the witcher and the latest bethesda rpg

that's not to say that zelda isn't still hugely popular, but general zelda fandom hasn't really moved out of the n64-gamecube era because the series has stagnated since then, and it fails to captivate newcomers because it peaked so long ago

i desperately hope that changes with botw, i would love for there to be the same long-lasting mass excitement for that game as there was for skyrim when it came out (but that's probably just a tad optimistic lol)

also my phone told me today that it's coming out in june. so.

my prediction is botw get's like a 9.0. maybe upper 80s. it's going to be a lot of rehashing of 5 year old ideas. thats my negative hater opinion.

the ps3 and especially 360 were extremely impressive machines for their time

they were competitive with $400-$500 gpus

you definitely couldn't build a ps360-equivalent pc in 2006 (let alone 2005) without spending a bare minimum of 2.5x the cost of a ps3

and while the ps4 and xbone were underwhelming from day 1, they're not weak relative to each other (which is what really matters), so at least they can share 90% of their library

unlike the wii u and nx
