And we sold Iraq chemical weapons which were used against Iran and other Shiite muslims. We granted sanctuary to the Shah who was responsible for several human rights violations. We shot down a commercial plane which killed hundreds of Iranian civilians. And we continue to threaten to invade or bomb them.

Of course they have been involved in taking American hostages, supporting the bombing of the US embassy in Lebanon, and making similar threats towards the US and her allies (empty as they may be).

Really most of the US's actions against Iran though came as a response to governments the US has found unfavorable to the trade of oil. Or which the US thought might spread communism. Really the Israel dialogue is more modern and fewer incidents have arisen between Iran and the US than during the Cold War. I wish Congress shared the President and John Kerry's feelings toward Israel's current actions and did not grant them unilateral support. I know a lot of Jewish people who vote republican just because they will support Israel no matter what and it's rather sad
