lol my school straight up tells philosophy majors to only have it to accompany something else

QuoteStudents majoring in biology, psychology, history, or computer science would do well to pick up a second major in
philosophy, a suggestion that the Department of Philosophy supports by offering standard and intensive major
options. Students who do especially well in either the standard or intensive major program graduate with honors in
philosophy. Because of the superior national reputation of the Department of Philosophy, a primary or secondary
major in philosophy helps a graduate gain entry into a good graduate or professional school.

no other department recommends having two majors

It's divided into two major categories of study: topics and history.

For history, we study the the works written by the the major philosophers, generally starting with the the Greeks and ending with contemporary guys.  It can feel very much like a literature class at times.

Topics is divided into three groupings: metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics.  We study the the "big questions" in each group and critique how other major figureheads answered them while trying to formulate your own answers.

Formal logic is also studied by philosophy majors.  Those who want to do contemporary metaphysics or anything with analytic philosophy need to be proficient in it.

It was a pretty decent field of study.  I enjoyed it and recommend anyone to at least take a philosophy course if they can.

??????

i dropped out of college like in 2010  and ended up living with my roommate in manhattan
living with my parents is not an option
i'd rather end up homeless (which i did for a bit) than live with them

i wanna open a small business
i want to go to berlin and be ~profitable~ there but my friends say it's just another stagnation spot that's just hip

Plan on moving to Arizona to live with my fiance while they finish their engineering degree then moving to California.

I don't ever wanna go back to my parents. :<

Finished college for a BS in Computer Science. Working full time as Information Security Administrator

girlfriend also needs to move by May. I want to move by May because my sister will give birth to a crying machine around then so both of us have a moveout in the same time frame and splitting rent somewhat will be much cheaper.
