Kalahari Inkantation

anyway, aside from when i'd catch other family members watching the news or w/e, i went probably around six years without watching any television content at all until netflix

6M69I69B9

i feel incomplete w/out commercials most of the time, though they can get annoying

i just feel like i need a filler now whenever something tense is about to come sometimes.

idk why im just like that

my favorite channel is investigation discovery

i also watch the news whenever i can, or just some documentaries on things & paranormal shit

i never just watch tv tho

Technology and globalism go hand and hand. If you want to be on the forefront of technology then you gotta be global

the earth is flat you globecuck

i think that 'watching tv' is a generational thing and will be phased out over time
i'm so sick of my isp telling me that i need to bundle and get cable too
i dont want your fucking cable fuck you you fatcat

Kalahari Inkantation

if i were to ever move out of my parents' house all i'd want is an internet connection

i'd have such a hard time getting that alone without paying an exorbitant 'this is what you get for rejecting our cable and phone services you disestablishmentarian prick' fee :(

Its just entertainment.
Why watch movies?
Why play games?
Why read books?
Why build models?
Why draw?
Why listen to music?

You can make anything sound terrible and boring

with virtually every other type of media listed (except music via radio) you are in near complete control of what you choose to consume or create

but if you're the type of person to sit in front of a television for hours, you're exercising no control over what you're seeing

you're not so much choosing the content you watch so much as you are accepting it

but that really only applies to a specific type of person who i really don't think exists on boyah

if any of us are ever using a tv it's to watch something in particular rather than everything in general

Lol I had a support person from centurylink tell me "surely you can free up a few hours each week to watch TV" after telling them that I don't watch TV. I felt a strange mixture of hatred and amusement from that

yes

watching an uninterrupted program that's either pirated or viewed through a streaming service is much different from watching it on a tv station with commercials and random shit flashing on screen every 5 seconds
but Hulu isn't any better than TV about this, right?

even hulu plus doesn't lose the ads sillydood;

Geno

I usually have the TV on whenever Im doing something. I barely pay attention to it, but I like the background noise.

But yeah, I don't get how some people can watch TV all day. Most of it is terrible.

it's what i've done

either way it's expensive as hell in this shithole country but getting cable would double the price

sitting down in front of a tv for 6 hours doesn't involve any sort of active consumption. with everything besides tv you need to actively seek out things that interest you and you develop your own taste and interests. tv keeps you sedated while they shove bullshit down your throat that you'd never willingly seek out

The Hand That Fisted Everyone

the other night i sat down with a group of friends and watched a ufc match on pay per view. Before that were preliminaries, aired on the regular sports channel. Its kind of amazing how similar sports stations and cable news are in their layout, tickers at the bottom, abrupt commercial interruptions, yelling out whats happening or what you think is happening. Totally sensory overload. It's crazy to me that I used to spend hours on hours in front of a tv watching cartoons and later trash tv. How can one grow with all these things being thrown at you left and right? 8 minutes of television programming and then a 4 minute window of glass cleaner adverts.

I was on wikipedia last night and the ending of breaking bad had a 75 minute runtime, including commercials. the final episode itself had a runtime of 55 minutes. 20 minutes of your time eaten up by advertising. Kind of ridiculous.

And TV Everywhere like HBO Go, Watch Disney, and Hulu! This is how you can actively control which programming you can watch on cable.
